The redeveloped Wyvernwood is designed to serve Boyle Heights for generations to come. To create plans for the site, Wyvernwood owner Fifteen Group spent more than two years canvassing the community to discuss the project and collect feedback. To date, the team has made over 100 presentations to residents, nonprofit groups, service clubs, business leaders and other local stakeholders.
The result is a plan that addresses the area’s needs and reflects the community’s values. Responding to widespread requests, new amenities will include units with more than one bathroom, increased storage and parking, and units that can accommodate cable TV and in-home washer/dryers. Environmental sensitivity in the area has led to a sustainable project that conserves natural resources. Concerns about security have prompted better lighting, secured parking and other safety measures.
Finally, to address widespread economic worries, the Boyle Heights Jobs Collaborative will direct many of the project’s 10,000 construction-related jobs to local residents. Read more about the Boyle Heights Jobs Collaborative here.
There’s no question that this close partnership with the community will help create a more sensitive and responsive Wyvernwood. And the effort is continuing: to schedule a presentation or learn more about the project, please contact Steven Fink at (213) 489-4806 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
